Sebring 12 Hours – The F430 GTC wins again, victory in GTE-AM, no joy for 458 Italia GT2
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 20 March – The Sebring 12 Hours kicked off this year’s American Le Mans Series and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, as well as marking the international debut of the 458 Italia GT2, entered by Houston’s Risi Competizione team. Its maiden outing was watched by Ferrari managing director, Amedeo Felisa, in Florida to witness this special moment.
Crewed by Jaime Melo, Toni Vilander and Mika Salo, the car was forced to retire around ninety minutes from the end of the race, because of an electrical problem, having produced an impressive performance up to that point. In fact, the new 458 Italia GT2 was very much in the fight for the top places and but for the fault, looked set to be in with a chance of a podium finish.
While naturally disappointed with the final result, Antonello Coletta, head of the Ferrari Corse Clienti department reckons the new sports car showed plenty of potential on its debut. “I was positively surprised with how the 458 Italia GT2 went and the drivers were also very impressed with its performance. It is an encouraging sign for the future.”
The F430 GTC entered by AF Corse, crewed by Giancarlo Fisichella, Gianmaria Bruni and Pierre Kaffer, was forced to make an additional visit to pit lane for a drive-through penalty that wiped out the advantage of starting from pole. With 311 laps completed, the Ferrari team ended up fifteenth overall, one lap down on the BMW Motorsport car of Andy Priaulx, Dirk Mueller and Joey Hand, the class winners. “The F430 GTC proved to have strong performance, consistency and reliability,” commented Antonello Coletta. “During 12 hours of racing, the AF Corse crew showed great quality and experience.” Tra le vetture iscritte alla prestigiosa gara di durata, importante successo della Ferrari F430 GTC schierata dal team Krohn Racing che si è imposta in classe GTE-AM, dando un’ulteriore prova di essere una vettura straordinariamente competitiva.
The American driver, Tracy Krohn, crossed the line with a significant advantage over the Proton Competition Porsche, to record his team’s first win in the American Le Mans Series and the first victory for the crew of Krohn-Jonsson-Rugolo.
The second round of the American Le Mans Series takes place on 17 April at the Long Beach street circuit in California, while the AF Corse team will be busy alongside other competitors in the Le Mans Series in the new eight hour race at the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit, over the weekend of 3 April.

Maranello, 19 March – The enthralling Sebring 12 Hours got underway with a fifteen minute qualifying session, for what is the opening round of the prestigious American Le Mans Series and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
Qualifying was closely contested and of the seven Ferraris entered in the GT class, pole went to the AF Corse F430 GTC, proving that this car is still extremely competitive. In the experienced hands of Giancarlo Fisichella, Gianmaria Bruni and Pierre Kaffer, the F430 GTC prepared by the team from Piacenza set a fastest time of 2.01.561 on its third lap, a time just 182 thousandths faster than the Corvette Racing car of Oliver Gavin, Jan Magnussen and Richard Westbrook (2.01.743.) Third on the grid will be the BMW Motorsport of Augusto Farfus-Bill Auberlen-Dirk Werner (2.01.841) which missed out on the front row by a mere 98 thousandths. Alongside it is its sister car driven by Andy Priaulx, Dirk Mueller and Joey Hand, fourth in 2.02.139.
After going well in free practice, the Risi Competizione 458 Italia GT2, making its international debut in this famous race, was fifth fastest in qualifying, in the hands of Jaime Melo, who stopped the clock in 2.02.290. There is still everything to play for for the Houston team: they have dominated the last four Sebring 12 Hours and this time they are running the new V8 powered sports car based on the 458 Italia, with the aim of equalling the amazing run of wins achieved by the F430 GTC.
The car’s maiden outing will be watched by a special guest in the shape of Ferrari managing director, Amedeo Felisa, who is in Florida to watch the race which starts at 10.30 local time today.

Maranello, 18 March – This weekend sees the new 458 Italia GT2 make its much awaited debut at the famous Sebring 12 Hours race, the opening round of the prestigious American Le Mans Series and of the intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
With this car, the Risi Competizione team will try and match the extraordinary series of wins obtained by the F430 GTC over the past four runnings of this classic event. The new V8 sports car, based on the 458 Italia and developed by Ferrari in conjunction with Michelotto Automobili, picks up where the F430 GTC left off and on this occasion it will be driven by a crew consisting of Brazil’s Jaime Melo and the two Finns, Toni Vilander and Mika Salo.
Watching the 458 Italia GT2 on its maiden outing will be special guest, Ferrari managing director Amedeo Felisa, who arrives today in Sebring to witness this special event which also sees over eighty Ferrari owners taking part this evening in a parade that marks the opening of the race weekend prior to the actual start on Saturday at 10.30 local time.
Other cars entered in the GTE Pro category include the F430 GTC prepared by AF Corse and entrusted to the experienced Giancarlo Fisichella, Gianmaria Bruni and Pierre Kaffer, who will tackle the event looking to score as many championship points as possible. After this race in the United States, the AF Corse team will also swap its F430 for the new 458 Italia GT2, having only recently made its track debut with Fisichella and Bruni at the Le Mans Series official test day. |

LMS – Ferrari triumphs in the Spa 1000 Km
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 7 May – Ferraris filled the top two places on the podium in their class in the Spa 1000 Km, the second round of the Le Mans Series and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. Victory went to car number 51, entered by AF Corse and driven by Giancarlo Fisichella and Gimmi Bruni. Thanks to a perfect strategy the first of the two 458 Italia GT2 took the win in the GTE PRO category, ahead of the F430 GT2 crewed by Dominik Farnbacher-Allan Simonsen. Third was the BMW M3 driven by Andy Priaulx and Uwe Alzen. The other AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia driven by Jaime Melo and Toni Vilander had to to retire a few laps from the end of the six hour race in Belgium. It collided with a prototype car which put an end to its attempt at climbing up the order after incurring a drive-through for having pulled an overtaking move under yellow flags.
“We are really happy for the team and for Ferrari,” commented Giancarlo Fisichella after the race. “This win is the result of impeccable team work and a fantastic car. The race was closely contested right to the final lap and the decision to do one less pit stop turned out to be winning choice.”
Fisichella and co will be back on track on the weekend of 12 June for the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours, the third round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
Ferrari take top 3 slots on Spa grid
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 6 May – Jaime Melo and Toni Vilander will start tomorrow’s Spa 100 Kms from pole position in their Ferrari 458 Italia GT2, with a lap time of 2.20.743 set by Melo and their AF Corse team-mates Giancarlo Fisichella and Gimmi Bruni are third on the grid in 2.21.086. Sandwiched between them and on the front row in second place are Rob Bell and James Walker who set a time of 2.20.915 in their Ferrari 458 Italia entered by the British JMW Motorsport team. “If it had not been for a yellow flag on my quick lap I could have done better,” said Fisichella, who is on the books as a Scuderia Ferrari driver. “Unfortunately, a car ahead of me spun and luckily I managed to miss him, going on to take third spot on the grid. The car has improved and we have found and sorted out a few small problems which means I am very confident for tomorrow. The weather forecast is good so there is reason to be hopeful.” The famous event at the Belgian track is the second round of the Le Mans Series and of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and gets underway at 14.05 tomorrow local time.
Six Ferraris in the Spa 1000 Kms

Maranello, 3 May – One month on from the opening round of the Le Mans Series, held at the Le Castellet circuit in France, competitors will be back in action this coming weekend for the Spa 1000 Kms, the famous endurance race that first took place back in 1924. After various ups and downs, the race has now reached its sixty fifth edition, when no less than fifty seven cars will take to the Belgian track in what is also the second round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. Of the six Ferraris entered in the GTE PRO category, there are five 458 Italia GT2 cars and one F430 GT2. The action starts on Thursday with free practice, with the final session taking place on Friday, prior to qualifying, with the start of the six hour race scheduled for 14.05 on Saturday 7 May. Also heading for Spa is Giancarlo Fisichella: the Roman driver, who is on the books at Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, is one of those entered in this much awaited event. He is teamed up with Gimmi Bruni at the wheel of one of two cars entered by the AF Corse team, from Piacenza, Italy.

Victory in the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours eludes Ferrari at the end of a race run from the front
Source: Ferrari
Le Mans, 12 June – The famous Le Mans 24 Hours race, third round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, ended this afternoon with a sense of disappointment in the AF Corse garage: Ferrari number 51 driven by Giancarlo Fisichella, Gimmi Bruni and Toni Vilander came home second in the LMGTE PRO category behind the Corvette of Olivier Beretta, Tommy Milner and Antonio Garcia, which went into the lead two hours from the flag, when a technical problem began slowing the Ferrari more and more, after it had been a front runner for most of the race.
At the start at 15h00 on Saturday, Gimmi Bruni immediately went into the class lead, lapping in quick times. His lead was then wiped out after the accident between McNish’s Audi and the Luxury Racing 458 Italia with Anthony Beltoise at the wheel, as this brought out the Safety Car for over an hour. After eight hours, another Audi, driven by Rockenfeller, collided with the AF Corse Number 71 Ferrari driven by Robert Kauffman and hit the guard rail at around 320 km/h, fortunately without injury. Once again the Safety Car came out, closing up the field yet again. As the race progressed, the hard charging trio of Fisichella-Bruni-Vilander retook the lead after 17 hours, until the car had to make a long stop in the pits because of the technical problem that saw the Corvette move into the lead. The other Ferraris did not fare much better in the marathon event: the JMW Motorsport car crossed the line in ninth place, while the two Luxury Racing cars, the Team Farnbacher entry and the the other AF Corse 458 Italia failed to finish, despite performing strongly, especially in the night time. Some consolation then that the 458 Italia GT3 Number 51 entered by AF Corse, won the Michelin Green X classification for GT cars, proving that the Maranello marque is paying close attention to reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
“We can take some satisfaction from this result, the team and Ferrari,” commented Giancarlo Fisichella after the race. “Second place is always a good result, even if naturally there is some disappointment given that we looked set to take the win. Unfortunately, some problems on the car in the closing stages of the race meant the top spot was out of our reach.”
In the LMGTE AM class, best result was a fourth place in the category for the JMB Racing F430 GTC. Competitors in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup will be back in action at Imola over the weekend of 3 July for the fourth round of the season, which is also round three of the Le Mans Series.

ILMC – Ferrari one-two on the banks of the river Santerno
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 3 July - Ferrari’s adventure in the Imola 6 Hours, the fourth round of the Le Mans Series and also of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup ended with a one-two finish. Honours in the GTE Pro class were hotly contested with the top spot going to the AF Corse 458 Italia GT2, driven by Jaime Melo and Toni Vilander, who led home the sister car of Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni and in third place, the BMW M3 driven by Augusto Farfus and Jörg Müller. With fifty minutes to go, the two red cars were solidly in the lead, with these two top places seeing Ferrari moving into the lead of the Constructors’ classification and consolidating AF Corse’s advantage in the Teams category. Fisichella and Bruni were particularly pleased, having staged a major fight back after a difficult start, which had seem them leave the line from seventh on the grid. “”We definitely could have won, but for an electrical problem which affected our car during the final laps,” said Fisichella. “But I am nevertheless very happy with this result for me and for the whole team. The way qualifying went did not lessen our expectations, as we knew we could do well and we proved that to be true. The entire team was exceptional as usual.”
Those in the GTE Am category were less fortunate: the Marco Cioci, Piergiuseppe Perazzini and Stephane Lemeret F430 GT2 started from second, but had to settle for a fourth place finish behind the two Porsche 911s of Raymond Narac-Nicolas Armindo and Patrick Long –Gianluca Roda and the Corvette C6 of Patrick Bornhauser – Julien Canal – Gabriele Gardel. Competitors now face a long summer break until the next round in the UK, at Silverstone circuit over the weekend of 11 September.
ILMC – Ferrari third in qualifying at Imola
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, July 2 – The Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 of Jaime Melo and Toni Vilander took third place in qualifying at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola ahead of tomorrow’s 6-Hour race, the fourth round of this year’s Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. On the famous Italian circuit the BMWs of Augusto Farfus-Jörg Müller (1.44.468) and Pedro Lamy-Dirk Werner (1.44.683) topped the GTE Pro category ahead of the number 71 car prepared by AF Corse (1.44.691). The other Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 run by the Piacenza team, driven by Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni (1.45.130), was only seventh despite having dominated yesterday’s free practice and been very quick in this morning’s practice session. The changing conditions of the track created some oversteer problems but the Roman duo hasn’t lost hope of doing well in tomorrow’s race which gets under way at 1200.
The F430 GT2s entered in the GTE Am category did well with the car driven by Marco Cioci-Piergiuseppe Perazzini-Stéphane Lémeret second (1.45.906) ahead of the other red car driven by Michele Rugolo-Niclas Jönsson-Tracy Krohn (1.46.219). The class pole went to the Porsche 911 of Patrick Long and Gianluca Roda (1.45.650).
The ILMC adventure continues in Imola.
The Ferrari Museum hosts press conference to present this weekend’s “6 Hours” race
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 28 June – The victory room at the Ferrari Museum was the setting for a press conference organised by the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and the Automobile Club de L’Ouest to present this weekend’s Imola 6 Hours, the fourth round of the series. The museum therefore chose to display the 166 MM which won the 1949 Le Mans 24 Hours, testament to the historic links between the Maranello marque and the legendary endurance race. Alongside this car from the past was the very latest 458 Italia GT2, run by the AF Corse team in the intercontinental series. Taking part in the conference were Frederic Henry-Biabaud, the ILMC general manager, Antonello Coletta, Head of Ferrari Corse Clienti, AF Corse drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni and their team principal Amato Ferrari as well as Walter Sciacca, director and managing director of the Imola circuit.
Henry-Biabaud opened proceedings, stressing the importance of having a Ferrari presence on the entry list. “It is a great privilege for us to welcome Ferrari to our championship, which is born out of a desire to promote the spirit behind the Le Mans 24 Hours in one unique international competition. Ferrari is universally recognised as one of the most prestigious marques in the world and boasts some true endurance professionals in its driver line-up.”
“It is definitely equally important for Ferrari to be part of this prestigious series,” echoed Antonello Coletta. “We have believed in it right from the start. When the idea of this championship was born last year, we immediately realised that for us and our GT cars, it would be a challenge we could not afford to miss. Ferrari’s history is not just about Formula 1 and our legend also owes something to the Grand Touring races.” Coletta also chose to comment on the new FIA Endurance World Championship which gets underway in 2012, replacing the current ILMC. “We will return to having a World Championship which is an added value for us as it will see us take on new opponents, even if I can say with pride that our cars are among the best and the teams that fly our colours are among the most professional. One only needs to look at the results: last year, we won the first of these championships and here we are off the back of the Le Mans race that we led up until the twenty second hour. Unfortunately, victory slipped from our grasp when we thought it was ours, but we are working very hard to give all the necessary support to our customers, which will also be the case in the world series in the future.”
The imminent challenge awaiting Ferrari is the Imola 6 Hours in which it has ten cars taking part; six Italia 458 GT2 and four F430 GTC, split between the Pro and Am categories. Of those entered, AF Corse is the team that has made the biggest contribution to winning important titles for the Maranello company and, with the help of drivers of the calibre of Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni will try and consolidate Ferrari’s lead in the constructors’ classification. “We are definitely confident of matching last year’s performance and once again fighting to win the title for Ferrari,” said team principal Amato Ferrari.
Giancarlo Fisichella seems equally confident in this his second season driving for the Piacenza-based team. “This year I feel I have got more experience and certainly I have a closer feeling with the team and the car. With a past career in F1, I had to adapt to a different driving style and a very different race format, trying to find the right compromise to make my contribution to a win which does not just depend on the skill of one driver, but on that of an entire team. I have an exceptional relationship with Gimmi Bruni whom I consider a true master and he has given me invaluable advice in terms of understanding the car and the circuits. Together we have won at Spa, we could have won at Paul Ricard and Le Mans, but we are pleased nevertheless because a lot of work and professionalism has gone into these results. We will definitely try to repeat the sort of performance we showed early in the season when it comes to the Imola race.”
The high level of competition which can be expected in Imola, does not phase Gimmi Bruni either, as he laid out his expectations for this Italian round of the intercontinental championship. “The fight will be very close but we have everything in place to be in the running. For me, it’s a real honour to wear the colours of such a prestigious marque as Ferrari and to race at a technically complex track like Imola.”
The Imola 6 Hours gets underway on Friday with the first free practice sessions, followed by 20 minutes of qualifying on Saturday at 13.55, which will decide the grid for the endurance race that starts on the Sunday at noon.

Ferrari all conquering at Silverstone to take Le Mans Series title
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 11 September – Giancarlo Fisichella and Gimmi Bruni took their 458 Italia GT2 to victory in the Silverstone 6 Hours, today at the Northamptonshire circuit. The thrilling endurance race was the fourth round of the Le Mans Series and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and the crew took top honours in the GTE PRO category. The victory was enough to ensure that the AF Corse team and the formidable duo have been crowned series champions with one race in hand. Having started from a lowly eighth on the grid, the Italians staged an amazing climb up the order, all the way to the top step of the podium. “Today’s result is down to a great strategy from the team which made less pit stops compared to other teams in the race and the skill of the drivers, as well as the quality of the 458 Italia GT2,” said Antonello Coletta, the head of Ferrari Corse Clienti. “It is very satisfying for us to see our car secure such an important result in its debut season in these most prestigious championships. Our next challenge is the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, which also sees a Ferrari in the lead and we will have to do our utmost to repeat our excellent result from 2010.”
Fisichella was delighted with what he and Bruni achieved after a difficult start. “The outcome of qualifying did not affect our expectations, as we knew we could do well and that’s how it worked out. The team did an exceptional job, as usual in fact, and this victory proves it,” he said after the race. The race that featured no less than seven Ferraris also ended with a good result for the Luxury Racing Ferrari, which finished second in the GTE PRO category crewed by Stephane Ortelli and Frederic Makowiecki, while third in class in the GTeam was the F430 GTC of Pierre Ehret-Shaun Lynn for CRS Racing. The next round of the Le Mans Series takes place at Portimao on 25 September and the following weekend, the Maranello cars will be tackling the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on the American Le Mans Series calendar which also counts towards the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
ILMC – Ferrari qualify third at Silverstone
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 10 September – The highest placed Ferrari came third in qualifying today for the Silverstone 6 Hours, which gets underway tomorrow at 11.35 at the Northants track. This is round four of the Le Mans Series and the International Le Mans Cup and no less than seven Ferraris are entered in the GTE PRO category, which saw pole go to the BMW M3 of Augusto Farfus - Jörg Müller (2.01.768) followed by Andy Priaulx - Uwe Alzen (2'02.096), ahead of the 458 Italia run by AF Corse (2.02.744) and driven by Jaime Melo and Toni Vilander. The other Ferrari run by AF Corse is only eighth in class, in the hands of Giancarlo Fisichella and Gimmi Bruni (2.02.971.) “It was a shame we were unable to get the best out of the tyres, because we had the pace to finish further up the grid,” said Fisichella after the session. “We worked a lot on the balance of the car and now we hope to have more luck tomorrow, and it would be good if it did not rain, given the extreme unpredictability of the English weather.”

Ferrari reigns at Petit Le Mans
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 2 October – Giancarlo Fisichella, Gianmaria Bruni and Pierre Kaffer pulled off a flawless performance today to take victory at Petit Le Mans in their AF Corse-run 458 Italia GT2. The car, which has already taken the Le Mans Series constructors’ championship in its very first year in the endurance championship, secured another important result to triumph in the 1000 miles of Petit Le Mans – one of the most prestigious dates in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup calendar. That confirms the Italian squad’s lead in the ILMC teams championship and Ferrari’s lead in the constructors’ championship with just one round left of a calendar that will finish at Zhuhai on November 13. The Maranello company, which already took the laurels in the coveted series last year, moves up to 151 points to take a 28-point lead over BMW, while AF Corse leads the BMW Motorsport team by 14 points with its total of 99.
“Today’s result is very important,” said Antonello Coletta, the head of Ferrari Corse Clienti, which offers support to the Maranello car company’s motorsport clients who take part in the endurance championships. “To have won one of the most demanding races of the season shows that Amato Ferrari’s team is a great group. The car and the exceptional ability of the drivers did the rest, contributing to a very important – and totally deserved – success for us.”
Giancarlo Fisichella, appearing at the Georgia track for the second time, expressed his delight at bringing the car home just after he took the chequered flag: “It’s been a perfect weekend that started with pole position and has now ended with this win. The result is the fruit both of the team’s hard work and of a great strategy, which took us to the end of a very hard-fought race. This was an absolutely unforgettable experience worthy of the colours of Ferrari.” It was a truly perfect weekend for the team AF Corse , which also took the honours in the GTE-AM Class where Robert Kauffman, Rui Aguas and Justin Bell took the third place at the wheel of the Ferrari 430 GTC.
Of the six 458 Italias on the grid for the GTE PRO category that was also the final event to count towards the American Le Mans Series, the Ferrari of Risi Competizione was forced to retire 20 minutes before the start of the race. On the lap to the grid, Jaime Melo lost control of the car while he was working to keep his tyre temperatures up. Unfortunately the contact with the guard-rail caused damage to the car that forced it to retire.
Petit Le Mans – Ferrari immediately on pole at Road Atlanta

Maranello, 1 October – The Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 of Giancarlo Fisichella, Gianmaria Bruni and Pierre Kaffer (AF Corse) took pole position at the US circuit of Road Atlanta, in Georgia ahead of today’s 1,000-mile Petit Le Mans – one of the most prestigious dates in the American Le Mans Series and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup calendars – which will get under way at 11.30 local time. The Italian team, which has already triumphed in the Le Mans Series, now aims to take victory in the final round of the ILMC, which will be replaced in 2012 by the new FIA World Endurance Championship. The best time set by Bruni (1.19.219 ) during the 15-minute qualifying session therefore makes for a perfect starting point as the trio bids to maintain its lead in this important series. Of the six 458 Italias on the grid for the GTE PRO category, Jaime Melo, Toni Vilander and Raphael Matos – at the wheel of the Ferrari run by Risi Competizione – will start from the second row. Melo set the fourth best time (1.19.299) despite having completed only six laps as he preferred to save tyres for the start of the race. In the GTE-AM class pole position went to the F430 GTC prepared by AF Corse for Robert Kauffman, Rui Aguas and Justin Bell to confirm how the much-decorated Ferrari remains one of the cars to beat.
Petit Le Mans – Fisichella meets the press at Road Atlanta
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 30 September – Preparations are in full swing at the US circuit of Road Atlanta in Georgia, where the American Le Mans Series is due to host its big season finale. The 1,000-mile Petit Le Mans – one of the most prestigious dates on the calendar, with a maximum length of ten hours – will be raced in conjunction with sixth and penultimate round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
As many as 58 cars have been entered for the race, of which there are six 458 Italias in the line-up for the GTE PRO category. That includes Jaime Melo, Toni Vilander and Raphael Matos at the wheel of the Risi Competizione Ferrari, fourth in the ALMS championship, and the team of Giancarlo Fisichella, Gianmaria Bruni and Pierre Kaffer for AF Corse, who are currently at the top of the ILMC title race.
Just a few days since the last race in the Le Mans Series, which saw him win the title with a race to go alongside Bruni, Fisichella yesterday took part in the press conference at the Georgia track. “I’m delighted to be able to return to race here,” said the Roman driver at his second visit to the event. “It’s a fantastic weekend both in terms of the nature of the track and the crowds that fill the circuit. Our car has the potential to fight for the win, as we already showed in the Le Mans Series. We must just give our full attention to traffic, which is the main problem here.”
A further 100 Ferrari cars will take part in the event, run at Road Atlanta by their respective owners to celebrate the debut of the 458 at this important motor racing event.

Unbeatable Ferrari takes ILMC title, Scuderia AF Corse take team title
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 13 November – Zhuhai circuit in China was the scene of the final round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and Ferrari has taken the Constructors’ title in the GTE PRO class, while Scuderia AF Corse has been crowned as the winner of the team category. Gianmaria Bruni and Giancarlo Fisichella came home fifth at the end of the six hour race and that was enough for them to finish ahead of BMW Motorsport in the championship even though latter took first and second today. The Italian team thus repeats last year’s victory brining home the title to the Maranello marque, in a series that will be replaced next year by the new FIA World Endurance Championship.
“This victory is the perfect finale to a season where we were always competitive,” commented Giancarlo Fisichella, after crossing the finishing line. “Having dominated the Le Mans Series, we have now won the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, a tough championship which saw us go head to head with strong competitors. We came to Zhuhai knowing our strengths, feeling confident that we could add to the list of titles on the Ferrari and Scuderia AF Corse palmares.
“A well thought out strategy adopted by the Amato Ferrari run team, perfect teamwork and my rapport with Gianmaria Bruni made for a very strong outfit.” Of the other five Ferraris in the race, Fred Makowiecki and Stephane Ortelli completed 218 laps to finish third in the Luxury Racing 458 Italia GT2, while in the GTE AM class, the acid green F430 GTC entered by Krohn Racing and crewed by Krohn-Jonsson-Rugolo came third.
ILMC – Ferrari second in qualifying at Zhuhai and F430 on pole in GTEAM
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 12 November – One month on from the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, the intercontinental series is back in action at the Zhuhai circuit in China, with tomorrow’s 6 Hour race which is the final round of the season. Next year, this championship will be replaced by the new FIA World Endurance Championship.
This will be the second running of this race and the GTE PRO class is bound to provide some spectacular racing as the AF Corse crew of Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni try to repeat last year’s win and pick up sufficient points to hang onto the Constructors’ title as well as the team trophy. Today, they were second fastest in qualifying in a time of 1.34.945, right behind the BMW Motorsport car they must beat for the championship, which took pole in 1.34.506. The Luxury Racing team has two 458 Italias entered, crewed by Ortelli-Mackowiecki and Beltoise-Farnbacher-Firman, who are fourth and fifth fastest in 1.35.413 and 1.35.867 respectively.
There are six cars in the GTEAM class and the CRS Racing F430 GTC came out on top at the end of 15 minutes of qualifying in 1.35.229. Next came the Proton Competition Porsche and the Krohn Racing Ferrari. The Scuderia AF Corse F430 GTC of Marco Cioci and Philip Ma was sixth. Ma, from Hong Kong has been taking part in this year’s Asia Pacific Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli.
ILMC: Zhuhai hosts the final challenge
Source: Ferrari
Maranello, 11 November – The countdown for the final round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup is underway this weekend at China’s Zhuhai circuit. It is the seventh and final round of this closely contested series which sees the AF Corse team, that has already won the Le Mans Series, currently leading the team classification with 99 points, followed by BMW Motorsport on 85.
The dominant force has been the AF Corse entered Ferrari 458 Italia GT 2 in the hands of Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni.
The Italian duo has made it to the podium in all six races, including no less than three wins at Spa, Silverstone and at Road Atlanta in the Petit Le Mans. The crew came home second at the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Imola 6 Hours, while in the season opener at Sebring, they finished third. This was enough for Ferrari to head the Constructors’ classification, 32 points ahead of BMW.
A short 15 minute qualifying session takes place tomorrow at 14.15 to determine the grid for the start of the six hour race which gets underway at 11 on Sunday morning.
